Smackdown Results-August 6th,2021

– We go right to the ring and out comes Sasha Banks to a pop. She hits the ring as pyro goes off, and the announcers talk about how she returned last week, then turned on SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair.

Banks says she’s back and that means it’s Boss Time on SmackDown. Banks says she came back for the spotlight she deserves. Some fans boo now. Banks says the spotlight she created, and she promises she will never let anyone steal that spotlight again. She shows a video package on what happened last week.

Banks says she exposed Belair last week and it was so easy. She’s been watching Belair make mistakes for weeks. She goes on and says Belair would be nothing without her. There would be no ESPY Award, no chilling with Megan Thee Stallion, and no WrestleMania 37 main event. Banks says Belair cried before their WrestleMania match because she was standing across from greatness. Banks says anyone else would’ve thanked her, but Belair didn’t, she wasn’t grateful at all. Banks sat at home and thought about the disrespect each week, so she came back to WWE for one thing – to make Belair pay. Banks goes on but the music interrupts and out comes Belair to a pop.

Belair swings her hair and speaks from the stage. She says Banks won’t be standing or talking when she comes and gets in the ring. Belair dismisses the idea that she’d be nothing without Banks, and reminds Banks how she begged Belair to pick her after she won the Royal Rumble so they could headline WrestleMania. Belair says Banks just doesn’t want her to shine, but she’s been shining and representing. Belair enters the ring and Banks rolls out. Belair taunts her and asks if she’s going to take another 4 months off.

Banks stands on top of the announce table and says she can do what she wants, when she wants, because when you’re a legend… Belair says Banks is one of the greatest to lace up a pair of boots, and if she wants the title, it’s on. Fans pop. The music interrupts and out comes Zelina Vega. She says this is not happening right now. Vega taunts Belair and Banks as she enters the ring. Belair says she will see Banks at SummerSlam, but she will face Vega tonight. Belair’s music hits and she exits the ring as Vega and Banks look on. Vega vs. Belair for the title is confirmed for tonight.

– Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville are backstage with Zelina Vega. Vega just wants to know when she gets her SmackDown Women’s Title shot but they say just because Bianca Belair accepted her challenge earlier, doesn’t mean Vega gets a title shot tonight. Deville says Belair doesn’t make title matches around here, she does. They tell Vega she just got back to SmackDown, but if she does well tonight, she can challenge the winner of Sasha Banks vs. Belair at SummerSlam. Vega is confident in her chances as she walks out.

Championship Contender’s Match: SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair vs. Zelina Vega

We go back to the ring and out comes SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair to a pop. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and out comes Zelina Vega as she looks to win this match and secure a title shot from the winner of Sasha Banks vs. Belair at SummerSlam. The bell hits and Belair drops Vega first and continues to toss her around the ring. Vega turns it around and covers for a 2 count.

Vega mounts Belair with strikes now. Belair turns it over and mounts Vega with rights and lefts now. More back and forth now. Vega gets sent to the floor as the referee counts. Belair attacks as Vega comes back in. Vega scoops her for a slam but Vega scrambles to the apron, then gets knocked off to the floor. They go at it on the floor and Belair presses Vega high in the air above her but the music interrupts and out comes Banks.

Banks dances around at the entrance, taunting Belair. Vega takes advantage of the distraction, dropping Belair at ringside. Vega brings it back in for a close 2 count. Banks look on from the ramp and laughs as we go back to commercial.

Back from the break and Belair counters Vega and levels her with a clothesline. Vega blocks a sidewalk slam and takes Belair down by her arm. Belair powers up but Vega counters. Belair counters that and slams Vega face-first into the mat. Belair slams Vega and nails a moonsault for a close 2 count. They go on and Belair overpowers with a big suplex. She holds it for another but Vega counters the next attempt, dropping her into a DDT for a close 2 count.

Vega with a running knee to knock Belair out of the ring. Vega leaps from the apron but Belair catches her and swings her head-first into the barrier. Belair tosses Vega back into the ring and hits the Kiss of Death for the pin to win.

Winner: Bianca Belair

– After the match, Belair stands tall and raises the title in the air as we go to replays.

Back from the break and Kayla Braxton is in the ring with Belair. The red ring cover is down. Kayla congratulates her on hitting 110 days in her title reign, and asks how she sees the next 100 days playing out. Fans chant “EST!” now as Belair thanks Kayla. She says these past few months have been amazing – defending at Rolling Loud, winning an ESPY Award, main eventing WrestleMania 37, and now being back in front of the fans. She says it just keeps getting better and she doesn’t know how she’s going to top it, but she’s grateful. The music interrupts and out comes Carmella.

Carmella mocks Belair on her 100 days milestone, congratulating her. Fans boo. She says if Belair really wants to cement her legacy, she should give one more title shot to someone who has held that title for 130 days, someone also known as The Most Beautiful Woman In WWE. The boos continue for Carmella as she enters the ring now. Carmella makes excuses for her Rolling Loud loss. The music interrupts and out comes Zelina Vega. She calls for her music to be cut and says Carmella better slow her roll because we all know Carmella is too pretty to be a third time loser. Vega says what she wants to say to Belair, she will say it in her face.

Vega enters the ring now. Vega thinks the WWE Universe wants to see Belair challenge a rising star like Vega. Some fans boo. Vega says she is The Moment and no one is more deserving than her. Vega tells Belair to accept her challenge. Belair says she’s on. Carmella shoves Belair down from behind with a cheap shot. Vega and Carmella double team Belair now, beating her around the ring. The music hits and out comes Sasha Banks to a huge pop.

Banks makes her return and rushes the ring, dropping Carmella first, then Vega. She hits Carmella with the running double knees in the corner, then levels Vega again. Banks helps Belair up to her feet and hugs her as fans cheer them on. Banks raises Belair’s arm in the air as Belair looks on a bit confused. Banks’ music hits as they hug again. Banks plays to the crowd as they cheer her on. Belair applauds.

Sasha Banks and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair vs. Carmella and Zelina Vega

We go back to the ring for tonight’s main event as SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair makes her way out to a pop. Carmella and Zelina Vega are already waiting in the ring. Out next comes Sasha Banks to a bigger pop. She poses on the apron as pyro goes off. This is Banks’ first match since dropping the title to Belair in the main event of WrestleMania 37 Night One.

The bell rings and Belair dropkicks Carmella to start, then kips up. Belair hits Carmella in the corner and tags in Banks for the double team to Carmella. Banks covers for a quick count. Carmella turns it around and covers Banks for a 2 count.

Vega ends up coming in but Banks and Belair nail double dropkicks to their opponents. Baseball slides are next as the babyfaces keep control. Banks stands on the steel ring steps now, allowing Banks to press her high in the air above her head. Belair comes off the steps and launches Banks onto Vega and Carmella at ringside. Banks and Belair stand tall at ringside as fans cheer them on. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and Vega is in control of Belair now. Vega with a standing submission in the middle of the ring. Banks rallies the crowd as they chant “EST!” now. Belair gets out but Vega sends her into the turnbuckles. Carmella tags in to take over on Belair as fans boo.She taunts Banks. Belair gets an opening but Vega tags in to stop Belair from tagging out.

Vega works Belair over and applies another submission. Belair breaks free and drops Vega with a backbreaker. Belair crawls for the tag and in comes Banks for a pop. Banks levels Vega with a Meteora, then knocks Carmella off the apron, then delivers two dropkicks to Vega. Banks with the Three Amigos tribute to WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero now as fans cheer her on.

Banks goes to the top and hits the Frogsplash but Carmella breaks the pin with a kick to the face. Vega tags out but Banks blocks Carmella, then drops her. Carmella kicks Banks from the mat. Carmella drops Banks on her face for a 2 count as Belair makes the save.

Vega attacks Belair but Belair fights her to the floor. Banks counters a Facebuster by Carmella in the middle of the ring. They tangle and Banks catches her in the Backstabber, then the Bank Statement for the submission win.

Winners: Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair

– After the match, Banks and Belair stand tall and celebrate as the music hits. We go to replays. Banks and Belair continue dancing around the ring until Banks drops her out of nowhere with a Backstabber. Fans go wild. Banks grabs the title but drops it to mount Belair with right hands. Some fans in the crowd are shocked as the camera focuses on them. Banks shoves the title in Belair’s face and talks some trash, then goes back to beating on her in the corner. Banks drops Belair with a tornado DDT and applies the Bank Statement in the middle of the ring. Belair screams out as the referee tries to break the hold. Fans continue to boo Banks as Belair cries out. Banks stands tall to mostly boos, but a few cheers.

Banks raises the SmackDown Women’s Title in the air as the boos get louder now. We go to replays. Banks applies the submission again, yelling at Belair and rag-dolling her, ranting about how Belair is only here because of her. Belair is screaming out and tapping but Banks keeps the hold locked in. The boos continue and the referee tries to get Banks to break the hold as SmackDown goes off the air.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina Snuka vs. Nox and Shotzi

We go back to the ring and out comes Nox and Shotzi riding on the tank. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and Cole shows us a vignette on WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews and his muscle, Commander Azeez. Cole says Crews will return to action soon. Liv Morgan and Zelina Vega are on commentary now. Nox and Shotzi wait as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina Snuka come out for this non-title match.

Tamina goes to work on Shotzi to start, sending her to the corner. Natalya tags in and works Shotzi over while she’s down. Shotzi and Nox will earn a future title shot if they win this match.

Shotzi fights back on Natalya and connects with a kick. Shotzi welcomes Natalya to the Ball Pit and drops the double leg drop for a 2 count. Tamina and Natalya turn it back around and double team Shotzi in the corner with kicks. Natalya runs into a big boot. Shotzi crawls for a tag but Natalya stops her. Shotzi kicks her away and in comes Nox.

Nox unloads on Natalya and kicks Tamina on the apron, sending her down. She then attacks again and kicks Tamina off the apron. Nox drops Natalya in the corner and hits a big cannonball. Nox exposes her knee and nails the Shiniest Wizard for a 2 count as Tamina breaks it up. Tamina drops Shotzi in the corner, taking her out.

Liv and Zelina start arguing on commentary. They meet in front of the announce table and start brawling. Liv rolls in the ring, and right back out, as Natalya tries for the Sharpshooter on Nox. Liv leaps off the steel ring steps and attacks Zelina on the floor at ringside. Nox takes advantage of the distraction and rolls Natalya for the non-title win.

Winners and New #1 Contenders: Nox and Shotzi

– After the match, an angry Tamina attacks Liv at ringside. Natalya grabs Zelina and sends her into a big superkick from Tamina. Tamina charges Liv but she moves and Tamina hits the ring steps. Liv takes Natalya out and they bring the fight in the ring. Liv counters Natalya and lays her out in the middle of the ring. Liv stands tall under the briefcases as fans cheer her on.

– We go back to the ring as Sonya Deville makes her way out. We see how she named Carmella to the Women’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match last week. Deville will name another participant tonight. She waits in the ring as we go back to commercial.

Back from the break and Deville is in the ring. She says it’s her pleasure to announce the next entrant into the Women’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match – Zelina Vega. The music hits and out comes Vega making her return to the company.

Vega says hello to Deville and says yes, it’s nice to see Vega. Vega says it’s Deville’s pleasure to announce her return, as it will be Vega’s pleasure to capture that briefcase. She goes on about how she will wait until the chosen Women’s Champion is beaten and down, then she will cash in and fulfill her destiny of becoming the WWE NXT, RAW or SmackDown Women’s Champion.

The music interrupts and out comes Liv Morgan. She’s still upset about Carmella being put into the MITB Ladder Match, when she feels like she deserves a spot, and now Vega is being given an opportunity. Liv enters the ring and goes on about how Vega doesn’t deserve to be in the match, saying she hasn’t even competed on SmackDown all year. How is that fair? Vega says she’s competed in rings like this one for years, and is one of the most popular WWE Superstars in history, and can run circles around Liv, embarrassing her and showing what an amateur Liv is.

Liv smacks Vega and tells her to prove it. Liv asks Deville is Liv can prove it in a match right now. Deville apparently makes the match as we go to commercial with Liv and Vega arguing.

Liv Morgan vs. Zelina Vega

Back from the break and Liv Morgan vs. Zelina Vega is underway. They go at it early on and Vega tries for a move on the middle rope. We see Carmella watching the match from backstage.

Vega charges and takes Morgan down for a 2 count. Vega takes Morgan to the corner and works her over, putting her back down. Vega charges and delivers a running knee to the face for a 2 count. Vega shows some frustration now. Liv rolls Vega for 2. They trade roll-ups again.

Vega tries to use a handful of tights but the referee catches her and yells at her. Liv takes advantage of the distraction and rolls Vega up, also using a handful of tights, for the pin to win.

Winner: Liv Morgan

– After the match, Vega seethes as Liv celebrates while her music hits. Vega keeps trying to go for Liv but the referee stops her. Liv heads up the ramp, taunting Vega.

Survivor Series Qualifying Match: Natalya vs. Ruby Riott vs. Zelina Vega

Back from the break and Ruby Riott and Zelina Vega are already waiting in the ring. The bell rings and Natalya drops Vega first, then goes for Ruby. Vega rolls Natalya for a 2 count. They all trade more offense and pin attempts. Vega drops Natalya and goes to work on Riott in the middle of the ring.

Natalya pulls Vega out of the ring. She comes in the ring but Riott counters a suplex and rolls her for a 2 count. Natalya drops Riott on her head now. Natalya with a Surfboard submission in the middle of the ring now. Vega runs in to break it, covering Natalya for 2. Vega goes to the corner and Natalya runs into her boot. Vega takes Natalya down with a big head scissors takedown. Riott plants Vega into the mat with the STO. Riott goes to the top but Natalya cuts her off. Riott knocks Natalya away. Riott goes to fly onto Vega but she moves and Riott lands hard.

Vega fights off Natalya’s Sharpshooter to Riott with a bulldog. Vega with running knees to Riott in the corner. Vega spikes Riott into the mat with a scissors. Riott rolls to the floor for a breather. Natalya rolls Vega from behind for 2. Vega and Natalya tangle some more now, trading offense and counters. Vega tries to block the Sharpshooter but Natalya locks it in the middle of the ring.

Vega goes for the bottom rope but that won’t break the hold in a Triple Threat. Riott comes in and applies an armbar to Vega while Vega is in the Sharpshooter. Not realizing the other submission has been applied, Natalya breaks the Sharpshooter as soon as Vega taps out and Riott gets the win for the Survivor Series spot.

Winner: Ruby Riott

– After the bell, Natalya is furious after seeing what happened and how Riott won. Riott hits the ramp to celebrate as her music hits. The referee holds Natalya back in the ring but she’s upset and ready to fight Riott.

Bianca Belair vs. Zelina Vega

We go back to the ring and out comes Bianca Belair. She hits the ring and twirls her hair around as we go back to commercial.

Back from the break and we see The Street Profits celebrating with Daniel Bryan and Kevin Owens backstage. Bryan is left alone and WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn walks up. Sami says he heard Bryan bad-mouthing him earlier, saying his title should be defended each week. Sami doesn’t share the vision and says the title is special, and it’s his, which means he dictates the terms, how often it’s defended and against who. Sami brings up their WrestleMania 36 match and tells Bryan to keep his ideas to himself. As long as Sami is champion, he will defend his way. Sami walks off. We go back to the ring and out comes Zelina Vega.

The bell rings and they lock up. Belair takes it to the corner and Vega goes to the top while still locked up. Vega with a shot to the face. Belair attacks and launches Vega to the mat from the top. Belair taunts Vega while she’s down. They go at it and Vega starts working on the arm. Belair scoops her and slams her. Belair shows Vega up off a counter and runs over her with a shoulder tackle. Belair taunts some more and hits a standing moonsault, then kips up in the middle of the ring.

Vega grabs the apron cover as Belair tries to pull her. Vega kicks Belair back and drops her with a kick to the head from the mat. Another kick by Vega, then another in the corner. Vega sends Belair flying out of the corner. Belair catches Vega and launches her in the air, then delivers a big right hand on the way down.

Belair grabs Vega and presses her high above her head from the mat. Fans pop as Belair marches across the ring with Vega in the air, then drops her over the top turnbuckle. Belair with the KOD in the middle of the ring for the pin to win.

Winner: Bianca Belair

– After the match, Belair stands tall and starts celebrating as her music hits. We go to replays.

Angel Garza vs. Andrade

We go back to the ring and out first comes Angel Garza. Back to commercial.

Back from the break and Zelina Vega is on commentary as Garza waits in the ring. She comments on giving up on Garza. Out next comes Andrade. The bell rings and they go at it. Andrade with a back suplex to break a headlock. Andrade mounts Garza with strikes now. Vega says she is here for managerial contract obligations but after tonight she is officially done with these two.

Garza ends up leveling Andrade with a big superkick for a 2 count. Andrade counters a move and launches Garza into the turnbuckles. More back and forth for a few minutes now. Andrade sends Garza to the floor with a stiff back elbow. He follows and the referee counts. Garza counters the Hammerlock and sends Andrade into the apron.

Garza brings it back in the ring for the Wing Clipper but it’s blocked. He keeps it locked and hits the Wing Clipper for the pin to win.

Winner: Angel Garza

– After the match, Vega enters the ring to check on Andrade but the lights start going out. The red lights come up and we hear the menacing sounds of The Fiend all over the arena. Alexa Bliss appears in the corner instead, turned upside down like Bray Wyatt. Vega and Andrade are shocked. The Fiend suddenly appears behind Andrade. The Fiend grabs Andrade while Bliss grabs Vega. They drop them with Sister Abigails at the same time in the middle of the ring. Bliss and The Fiend stare each other down as the menacing sounds continue to echo all over the arena. We go to commercial.

Zelina Vega, Lana and Natalya vs. Mandy Rose, Dana Brooke and Asuka

Back from the break and Zelina Vega is already out for this six-woman match. Out next are her partners, Lana and Natalya. RAW Women’s Champion Asuka is out next.

Natalya and Brooke start things off. Natalya with two straight takedowns. They run the ropes and Natalya counters, then takes Brooke down and folds her up for a 2 count. More back and fort now. Brooke swings Natalya around by a scissors and covers for a 2 count. Brooke tags Rose in and holds her for a shot to the gut. Brooke and Rose with a double suplex, holding Natalya high in the air. Rose covers for a 2 count. Natalya fights up and out but they tangle in the middle of the ring. Rose dropkicks Natalya in the face for a 2 count. Vega ends up yanking Asuka off the apron to prevent a tag. Rose goes after Vega but Natalya ends up taking advantage of the distracting, dropping Rose for a 2 count. Natalya unloads on Rose in the corner but Vega tags herself in and Natalya looks annoyed by it.

Vega works Rose over and rolls her up for a 2 count. Vega grounds Rose with a submission now. They tangle on the mat some more. Rose with a 2 count. Vega rocks Rose and then knocks Asuka off the apron with a right hand. Natalya tags in and then she tags in Lana. They double team Rose for another 2 count. Lana stops on Rose and tags Natalya back in for more quick double teaming. Lana kicks away at Rose and Natalya scoops Rose. Natalya knocks Brooke off the apron with a cheap shot. Rose blocks a Sharpshooter.

Asuka and Lana tag in now. Asuka knocks Vega off the apron with a Hip Attack. Asuka unloads on Lana and then Vega as she runs in. Asuka takes out Natalya as she charges. Lana knees Asuka in the face but Asuka comes back with a sliding knee but Natalya breaks the pin up.

Brooke runs in and attacks Natalya, hitting a springboard back elbow in the corner. Asuka and Lana tangle some more now. Rose tags herself in but Lana doesn’t see it. Lana fights Asuka but turns around to a big pump knee strike from Rose. Rose covers Lana for the pin to win.

Winners: Mandy Rose, Asuka and Dana Brooke

– After the match, Rose’s music hits as the winners immediately gather in the middle of the ring to pose together. We go to replays. The winners pose on the stage together now. Natalya is checking on Lana in the ring now. Vega is about to make her exit. The music hits and out come the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions – Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Lana and Natalya try to retreat but the champs surround them at ringside and Natalya is trying to hold Lana up. Natalya tries to fight but Jax drop her with a headbutt. Jax holds Natalya while Baszler clears the announce table off. Jax scoops Natalya on her shoulders but Lana makes the save. Jax nails Lana and then drives her through the announce table, for the third time in recent weeks. We go to commercial with Jax and Baszler standing tall.

– Tom hypes Zelina Vega vs. Asuka in a rematch from Clash of Champions. We get a look at last night’s match, which saw Asuka retain her title. Vega is backstage now as Kayla Braxton approaches, asking about her being a poor sport after last night’s loss. Vega says she’s just getting started here but everyone will feel so sorry for Asuka when she’s done with her tonight. She goes on about how Asuka won’t be ready for her. Asuka appears and they have words. Asuka says she will be ready but she just hopes Vega is ready to lose again. The argument gets heated as officials pull them apart. We go to commercial.

He goes on and taunts her for losing to Asuka twice. Vega gets emotional and heads to the back. Andrade keeps ranting and apparently asks who wants to come out and face him. The music hits and out comes Keith Lee.
